What a brilliant night out, so thank you East.
East teamed up with Odeon High Street Kensington for a preview of the film ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’ starting with drinks and nibbles in the nearly opened shop on High Street Kensington followed by the film.
On arriving at the cinema, we had rigorous security checks and had to prove our mobile phones were switched off and then during the film the security guards had infra-red devices to detect if we had switched them back on. Of course, one or two people had but were caught out and received a slapped wrist. The screen was perfect, about 60 seats so nice an intimate. And, on taking a seat, a goody bag was placed from East which was a lovely touch.
I had seen a couple of trailers on the television over the past ten days which gave you a taster without giving anything away so, when Lucy Elliott, a dear friend and editor of The Kensington Magazine invited me I jumped at the chance.
The film is great, with some wonderful one liners, which I’d love to share but it would ruin the film for you. Some of the most amazing photography throughout capturing the colours and culture. It is a film for all ages and I will certainly be going to see it again. The cast is amazing from Judi Dench to Bill Nighy, to Tom Wilkinson, to Maggie Smith they all suit their roles perfectly and then Dev Patel brings it together.
In fact, when the film finished and Lucy and I were walking back home discussing the film and who we thought would enjoy it, we chuckled to ourselves as we re-cast the characters with friends and family and wondered who we would be!
I don’t want to give anything away but this really is a film not to be missed and it comes out on general release on Friday 24th February.
